These Diagrams Reveal How To Negotiate With People Around The World

These Diagrams Reveal How To Negotiate With People Around The World | Inspiration Hub | Scoop.it

You can't expect negotiations with French to be like negotiations with Americans, and the same holds true for cultures around the world.

British linguist Richard D. Lewis charted communication patterns as well as leadership styles and cultural identities in his book, "When Cultures Collide," now in a 2005 third edition. His organization offers classes in cross-cultural communication for big clients ranging from Unilever to BMW.

In support of cultural studies, he writes: "By focusing on the cultural roots of national behavior, both in society and business, we can foresee and calculate with a surprising degree of accuracy how others will react to our plans for them, and we can make certain assumptions as to how they will approach us. A working knowledge of the basic traits of other cultures (as well as our own) will minimize unpleasant surprises (culture shock), give us insights in advance, and enable us to interact successfully with nationalities with whom we previously had difficulty."

Trends in International Association Meetings from North Americ 2015 Survey Report

Meeting planners reported a strong year in 2014 for international association meetings outside of North America, according to a new survey report by Marketing Challenges International (MCIntl). With a growing economy in the United States and consecutive years of increasing meeting attendance and budgets, the mood looks optimistic for 2015 and beyond.

Planners report that a shift is taking place among decision makers in the industry—instead of site selection committees, more associations are turning to executives to make final decisions in destination selection. And while Europe and Asia remain the most popular regions for hosting international meetings, planners indicate that they are willing to exploring emerging regions such as South America and the Middle East.

Leah Anagnostou's curator insight, March 20, 2015 7:54 AM

This is a summary of a report that discusses the ways in which to deal with the future of the hotel industry. Forecasting what needs to be done and what might happen. the key findings in the report were:

- embracing personalisation. this relates to the focus in millennials as a key target and soon those hotels without the incorporation of smart technology and hotel apps will get left behind

-taking a new approach to data and talent. with adapting the new technology comes new knowledge, hotels need to have people who know how it works and the best practices in order to achieve best results.

-keeping the brand relevant. about finding new ways to connect with customers directly as there are many other ways like booking agencies that can cloud the direct route.

-rethinking the business model. hotels need to think about how they present themselves as competitors with new ideas are taking over the market. the action needs to be quickly done as waiting is not an option that is worthwhile.

This report acts on the ways that future happenings occur and to prevent and be ahead of the technology game.
