Building event value by creating trust

Building event value by creating trust | Inspiration Hub | Scoop.it

When I began writing Intentional Event Design: Our Professional Opportunity, it was to delve into and provide information on designing events that are people-centric and purpose-driven. The more I wrote, the more I realized it came down to one thing: using meetings to build trust – in the organization, between teams, and between solution providers and their potential clients. To create environments that allow the time and space for conversations is part art and part (neuro) science, and deeply understanding how humans respond to live event environments is our new currency as we build the value of our industry.

How to Control Your Audiences' Reaction to You--According to Neuroscience

How to Control Your Audiences' Reaction to You--According to Neuroscience | Inspiration Hub | Scoop.it

There is a trait that neuroscientist and TED India speaker Vilayanur Ramachandran believes is fundamental to what made human civilization possible by enabling us to learn the complex social behaviors needed to produce civilization, itself. Powerful stuff. These relatively recently discovered neurons are called "mirror neurons" and they are what instill in us the trait of human compassion; the instantaneous ability we have to feel what others are feeling and imagine what they are thinking. Our mirror neurons are activated both when we take an action, and when we see another take that action. If we see someone having a strong emotional reaction, we feel that emotion, too.

Packing a Punch: Packing Hacks

Packing a Punch: Packing Hacks | Inspiration Hub | Scoop.it

Given my line of work as a travel planner, I know my way around a suitcase. The task of packing and unpacking has become a familiar chore – although personally, I take pleasure in it. I find packing to be a cathartic experience, and a way to ensure comfort and control while I’m away from home. Believe it or not, I pack three-to-four weeks ahead of time, or immediately upon my return from my preceding trip. Why? Because the idea of putting it off and packing the night before gives me the heebie-jeebies, even though start to finish, the process takes me only about 15 minutes.

Should You Quit a Job You Hate?

Should You Quit a Job You Hate? | Inspiration Hub | Scoop.it

“How long do I have to stay in a job I hate?” You wouldn’t believe how regularly I am asked that question. Most millennials will be glad to hear that the rules seem to have changed about this issue. It used to be that staying in a job one year was all but required for appearance’s sake, while two years was ideal. (And honestly, I’ll say that in most cases it still is. Employers in many industries, particularly more traditional fields, still look askance at a resume full of one- and two-year stints.)

When Financial & Insurance Conference Professionals elevated its mission and defined a vision last year, it did so to gain influence within the meetings and events industry as well as to position its meetings professional members to gain influence (and respect) within their companies. How This Simple Trick Can Boost Your Productivity

How This Simple Trick Can Boost Your Productivity | Inspiration Hub | Scoop.it

Have you been struggling with your workload since you’ve been stuck in meetings all week? Then you’re having to stay up late or work weekends to catch up? Meetings are a cultural norm in business and in the event industry, where flexible schedules and working from home are also common, but they offer a way for everyone to sync up, come together, and get on the same page. However, they can also be a real time-sucking task that everyone wants to avoid because they can hinder your productivity and motivation for the day. Microsoft conducted a productivity survey and found that out of 38,000 participants, 71% of U.S. workers felt they didn’t have productive meetings and yet, spent over 5 and half hours per week attending them. So why are we letting them dictate our working weeks?

Four ways to optimize your networking opportunities  | Inspiration Hub | Scoop.it

In the meetings and events industry, one of the key predictors of your success is your ability to build relationships with influential people who connect powerfully and create high-trust relationships fast. And just like them, you can learn to effortlessly create profitable, winning relationships with anyone you want. While industry events are ideal places to find potential customers and partners, often the results are disappointing. You do everything the experts say: shake hands confidently, look people in the eye, and give them a well-rehearsed pitch. The person shows interest so you hand them your business card. But then nothing comes of it.
